To Set the Scene...

Here are a few photos of Besancon to set the scene for the adventures of Kelsey Keyes!

The main square of Besancon, la Place de huit septembre

The fantastic bookstore Campo Novo, one of our favorite places in town

The Doubs River, with a glimpse of the Centre de Linquistique Applique (CLA), where we spent many a dull hour waiting to use the super-slow computers

Why This Blog for Kelsey Keyes

Kelsey Keyes and I first became friends when we were both sophomores at Knox College and both attended a meeting for students who would be going to study in Besancon, France on Knox's study abroad program. Right away, unbeknown to each other, we each swore to make the other our friend - and thus, our friendship was off!

During our year in France, Kelsey Keyes did a lot of wonderful things for me, including organizing a fabulous surprise crepe party for my birthday. This blog is my way of saying thanks to her for those wonderful memories, for her own birthday, eight years later. Better late than never, non?

Here's a photo of Kelsey Ann Clough Keyes filling crepes at my birthday party in the Knox office in Besancon.
